We propose an infrared-transparent silicon wafer structure which can be used to
facilitate simple optical image processing of binary ( black or white)
pixeled images.
The intention is to apply it to selected specific applications rather than to
generalised two dimensional computing, with external programmation and
structural complications kept to a strict minimum.
Currently envisaged processing is restricted to nearest neighbour interactions,
although other more long range possibilities capable of global interactions are
foreseen.
